On 28 October 2019 an interactive training on Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) in Criminal Matters was organised in Sarajevo in collaboration with the Judicial Training Centres of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Srpska. The training was held by MLA expert, Mr. Nikola Sladoje, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Sladoje presented the national and international framework for providing and requesting MLA and, through interactive discussion, explained specifics of international legal cooperation. The training was held in a small forum of judges and prosecutors who discussed concrete cases and solutions that could be used in practice.

This training represents the IPA/2017 Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans Project’s continuation of capacity building in the field of MLA, which previously included study visits and meetings on the topic, as well as assistance to the working group for changes and amendments of the Law on MLA in Criminal Matters of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
