During the SPIDER WEB Conference in Zagreb, Croatia from 12-13 November 2019 a panel of specialists from the region discussed fighting environmental crime in the Western Balkans.

The general objective of SPIDER WEB is to increase the awareness and the skill set of all actors in the environmental law enforcement chain of the Western Balkan region to successfully disrupt and prosecute illegal behaviour, and limit the negative impact on human health and environment.

The conference discussed the best ways forward to strengthen regional cooperation, and establish private sector partnerships, as well as prevention programmes and awareness campaigns against environmental crimes. A synopsis of the first day panel discussion may be found here, and the conclusions and recommendations from the conference here.

SPIDER WEB is jointly financed by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany on the basis of a grant agreement with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GmbH) within the IPA/2017 Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans Project.
