On 29 October 2019 the Montenegrin Police Directorate dismantled an organised criminal group – arresting 4 suspects, 2 perpetrators and 2 accomplices and subsequently solving 4 murder cases. Three trilateral operational meetings held earlier this year between Police Directorates of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia were pivotal to agreeing on a common strategy and modus operandi. The meetings allowed authorities to exchange information related to ongoing investigations concerning organised criminal groups based in Montenegro and active in the region and EU Member States.

The IPA/2017 Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans Project supported these meetings as part of its effort to support international investigations and combat serious and organised crime.
