Two handover ceremonies took place between the IPA/2017 Countering Serious Crime in the Westerns Project and its beneficiary institutions in Albania – at the Albanian Ministry of Internal Affairs on 6 November 2019, and at the Albanian Police Directorate on 7 November 2019. The ceremonies took place to acknowledge and celebrate the modern IT equipment received by the Albanian Ministry of Interior and Albanian State Police to assist their investigations and ability to share information about organised crime cases.

The handover ceremony at the Ministry of the Internal Affairs was attended by the Deputy General Director of the Directorate of Service for Internal Affairs and Complaints Mr Adriatik Ago and representatives from the Albanian Ministry of Interior.

The handover ceremony at the Police Directorate was attended by Deputy General Director of the Albanian State Police Mrs Aida Veizaj, the Director of Criminal Police Mr Tonin Vocaj, the Director of the International Relations Department Mr Idajet Faskaj, the Director of the Special Operations Force Mr Bujan Ahmeti and the Director of Support Services Department Mr Theodori Gravani.

During the handover ceremony, Mrs Aida Veizaj emphasized the close and successful cooperation between the Project and the Albania State Police and thanked the Project for its consistent and fruitful support.

Both events proved to be a success and representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Police both expressed their enthusiasm for the cutting-edge IT equipment and its relevance to their work in fighting serious and organised crime.
