Liaison officer from Kosovo* installed to EUROPOL

This month, the first Liaison Officer of Kosovo* to EUROPOL Mr. Besnik Sallahu took up his position in The Hague. Mr Sallahu is well aware of the historical position he takes as the first Kosovar* Liaison Officer to EUROPOL and the role he has to fulfill in connecting the Kosovo* Police to the various police services in the European Union and EUROPOL.

The regional project Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans is honored to support yet another step in the intensifying cooperation in fighting organized crime in cooperation with law enforcement agencies and prosecution offices in the Western Balkans, including Kosovo*. Mr. Sallahu was welcomed in The Hague by the director of The Center for International Legal Cooperation Mr. Willem van Nieuwkerk and deputy director of CILC and project manager of the CSC WB Project Mr. Eric Vincken.

The project CSCWB IPA 2019 is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Italian Ministry of Interior (IMoI) and the Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC), co-financed by the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Italian Ministry of Interior. Its main objective is to strengthen the cross-border cooperation to counter serious and organised crime in the Western Balkans with institutions and networks of the EU.

*This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UN Security Council resolution 1244 and the International Court of Justice Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
