Training on Passenger Data Exchange Programs held in Tirana, AL

Recently, a four-day training on the topic of “Passenger Data Exchange Programs” took place in Tirana, Albania, between the 13th and 16th of February. It was conducted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the framework of the regional project Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans IPA2019. One of the goals of the regional project CSCWB is to enhance the capability of the Western Balkan six to collect and process API/PNR.

During the training the participants, representatives from the so-called Passenger Information Units (PIU) from Albania, Kosovo* and North Macedonia, as well as members of the inter-agency working group on API and PNR in Bosnia and Herzegovina were trained in issues like definitions and basics of passenger data, regulatory framework, batch API, interactive API, PNR, the future of passenger data exchange. As part of the training the participants had to prepare some group presentations and do an online examination at the end of the course. Both parts will be included in the final assessment of the participants, which will be known in 2 weeks.
