Fugitive arrested in Kosovo*
Operational support, provided by the project to Kosovo* Police has brought significant and concrete results in the area of tackling of serious crime. The exchange of information in a context of physical meeting between law enforcement officers has proven to be most efficient and fruitful mechanism for successful outcomes.
The Directorate for Investigation of Trafficking of Narcotics of the Kosovo* Police has received our operational support for the arrangement of a bilateral operational meeting on the summer of 2022.
The meeting was held with the representatives of BLKA (Bavarian Criminal Police Office) and the Customs and has enabled the police officers of both police forces to exchange information and evidence related to Kosovar* suspects engaged in the trafficking of heroine in Germany, Kosovo* and other countries. The information has been focused especially to one of the suspects, the most important in that investigation, fugitive from the prison and suspected to be sheltered in Kosovo.
This cooperation has resulted with a denser and more professional field and operative activity that led to the identification and the arrest of the suspect. The suspect, ethnic Albanian from Kosovo*, fugitive from a prison in Germany and with an International Arrest Warrant already issued has been identified and arrested by the Regional Unit of Antidrug. The suspect now is in (detention) remand.
*This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UN Security Council resolution 1244 and the International Court of Justice Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
