Investigation of Financial Crimes: 4-day Workshop held in Mostar, BIH
The regional project CSC WB organized a four-day Workshop on Investigations of Financial Crimes, in cooperation with the Agency for Education and Professional Training (AEPTM) of the Ministry of Security of BIH. The workshop was organized from the 30th of May to the 3rd of June in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than 30 representatives of prosecutors, law enforcement agencies and tax agencies from all Western Balkan states took part in the workshop.
The national Legal advisor of the CSC WB Project Jasmin Hasić reminded that his project has been active for 10 years, the current phase being its fourth: “In this phase we tend to strengthen the international cooperation with the institutions and agencies of the EU in fighting serious and organized crime in the Western Balkans.”
Some of the topics of the Workshop were the gathering of information and evidence in the field of financial investigations, also financial documentation and analysis and financial investigation in digital surrounding. The international speakers of this event were Barbara Lipovšek, Alenka Sagmeister-Ranzinger and Stanislav Pintar from Slovenia (two of the latter are resident EU prosecutors of the CSC WB Project), Snežana Mojoska from North Macedonia and Dejana Bakula and Jovo Marković from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The director of the AEPTM Marko Vujević thanked the organizors and the participants at the end of the event. “Financial investigations are a complicated term and a very delicate topic. The people engaged in it are supposed to have a serious approach and be responsible. Such an exchange of experience and further education will lead to a higher level of competencies, better communication with colleagues, profound international cooperation and professional help.”
The regional project Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans is co-financed by the EU, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and the Italian Ministry of Interior. It is implemented by the Italian Ministry of Interior, the German Agency for international cooperation – GIZ and the Center for International legal Cooperation – CILC.
