CSC WB Countering Terrorism – One person arrested by Italian Police

The inter-agency group, by the name of “Skanderbeg Group”, convenes periodically with the aim to allow timely and effective exchange of information for preventing and countering terrorism, both affecting the Balkans and the European member states.

On November 4th 2021 an important meeting between counter terrorism units of Italy, Albania and Kosovo* took place in Rome, where the periodic exchange of information is facilitated by the project Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans – IPA 2019 (CSC WB).

During that meeting, relevant information regarding an investigation carried out by the Italian competent authorities has been shared with the participating partner. The investigation, conducted by the Italian national Police CT Unit in Milan, with the coordination of the Central Directorate for Preventative Police of the Department of Public Security, in cooperation with the Europol’s Counter Terrorism Centre, led to the execution of restrictive measures issued by the Italian competent court toward a subject indicted for criminal association with the aim of terrorism.

The project Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans – IPA 2019 stands ready to support the upcoming needs of the Western Balkans beneficiaries and EU partners in identifying interactions, fast support measures and inter-linkages for an effective and coordinated counter-terrorism support.
